Thus Spoke The Great Device is an ongoing in-character (“deep satire”) satirical digital performance performed since 2017 through a personal blog as well as a in-character Twitter account of “The Great Device (T.G.D.)… [that] modern deity superstar, too busy for earthly frivolities like blog posts”.

This ongoing performance is comprised of Twitter “engagements” (replies and retweets) with other Twitter users (often using innovative hashtags, such as #textnecks, #DigitizeYourSex, #NoWeekendsWithoutMe, #LetsPhotographyTogether, etc.) , in-character blog posts exploring the causes and impacts of the power of The Great Device over us, humans (or, “humanoids”, as T. G. D. mockingly calls us), as well as in-character #StreetPhoto photography that document the public use of “devices”, and how this supposedly social technology is actually altering our “offline” public social behaviours to make us more social with our devices and less with ourselves, the “humanoids”.
